Unroll the mesh along your fence line and secure it to your posts with fencing staples or clamps, starting at one end and working along to keep tension even. Pull the mesh taut as you go, but don't over-tighten or you'll distort the weave. For a 30m run, you'll typically need posts every 1.8m to 2.4m depending on your ground and stock pressure. Once secured, check all edges are flush to the ground to prevent animals pushing underneath. Tips: Horses will test new fencing hard, so make sure your posts are solidly set and the mesh is pulled really tight—any sag invites them to push through or get their hooves caught. In Queensland heat, mesh can shift slightly as it expands and contracts, so check your fencing after a few weeks and retighten any staples that have backed out. Keep the bottom edge clear of long grass and weeds; they hide damage and create weak points where stock can lean through.
