Kohnke's Own Cell-Salts is a concentrated electrolyte supplement for horses that replenishes essential salts lost through sweat.
It provides essential salts, including sodium, potassium, magnesium and chloride, with a low level of glucose. The salts are specially coated to ensure optimum palatability and reduced salt reactivity. Cell-Salts is a vanilla flavoured, sticky, low dust powder.
Supplementation
Each level scoopful provides 25 g of Cell-Salts.
Horses at rest: 25 g daily.
Light work (up to 30-60 minutes walking, trotting, light cantering): 37.5 grams daily.
Moderate work (30-120 minutes walking, trotting, cantering and some galloping): 50 grams daily, split between morning and night feeds.
Heavily or intensely worked horses (15-30 minutes fast trotting, cantering, galloping, jumping, horses in full race training): up to 75 grams daily, split between morning and evening feeds.
For ponies and miniatures, feed half the above amounts.
It is recommended to provide Cell-Salts after extended exercise to encourage rehydration. Always ensure that adequate clean & fresh drinking water is available at all times.
Kohnke's Own recommends Troppo-Salts for hotter and more humid climates, which can be considered tropical or subtropical regions. Troppo-Salts has a higher ratio of potassium to sodium, because horses in hot and humid climates sweat more profusely and thus lose more potassium through sweat.
Cell-Salts does not swab or contain banned substances and does not contravene the Rules of Racing or FEI Competition.
