JOINER REDUCING SOCKET BSP 2' (50mm) X 3/4" (20mm) PHILMAC 90436200 at a glance

Philmac’s robust threaded fittings provide precision BSP tapered threads that have been engineered to maximise sealing performance.

The versatile range is made from high performance, UV resistant polypropylene that does not absorb moisture.

Installation is quick, simple and reliable every time.

The material is also potable water (AS/NZ 4020) approved. (Note: Products marked “Ancillary” are not potable water approved.)

Philmac’s threaded fittings provide maximum versatility, delivering a high performance connection across a wide range of pressure ratings and chemical combinations.

The hexagonal body makes them extremely simple to install. Importantly, Philmac threaded fittings are suitable for working pressures up to PN16 for sizes up to 2”, PN12 for 2-1/2” and PN10 for 3” and 4” sized fittings.

Smart hexagonal design makes the fittings compatible with tools and ensures that Philmac BSP threaded fittings are extremely easy to install.

Philmac threaded fittings are manufactured from high quality materials that ensure strong connections for many years.

The material also has a high degree of UV resistance to ensure long term performance even in direct sunlight.

This reducing socket connects 2" (50mm) BSP threaded male outlet to 3/4" (20mm) poly pipe barb inlet. Apply thread seal tape (PTFE) to the 2" BSP male thread, then screw firmly into the socket until hand-tight plus one-quarter turn. Attach the 3/4" poly pipe to the barb end using a stainless steel hose clamp, positioning the clamp over the barb ridges and tightening until the pipe is secure but not crushed. Test for leaks after installation. Tips: Use this fitting to step down from larger 2" threaded connections (such as pump outlets or tank fittings) to standard 3/4" poly pipe runs commonly used in Queensland rural gravity-fed systems. Always use stainless steel clamps on barb connections to prevent rust and ensure long-term reliability in outdoor farm environments. Check that your poly pipe is rated to at least 800kPa to match this fitting's pressure capacity.

Common Questions

What is this fitting used for?

This is a joiner reducing socket that connects two BSP threaded pipes of different sizes — a 2" (50mm) thread on one end and a 3/4" (20mm) on the other. It's designed to join or reduce between these two pipe sizes in irrigation, water supply and other pressure systems.

What pressure can this fitting handle?

This fitting is suitable for working pressures up to PN16 for sizes up to 2".

Is it safe for drinking water?

Yes. This fitting is potable water approved to AS/NZ 4020, so it's safe to use in systems supplying drinking water.

How do I install it?

The hexagonal body makes installation quick and simple. You can use a spanner or wrench on the hex to tighten it onto the BSP threaded pipes. The tapered threads are designed to seal reliably without fuss.

Will it last outdoors in the sun?

Yes. It's made from UV resistant polypropylene, so it's built to handle direct sunlight and won't degrade over time.
