This reducing socket connects 1 1/2" BSP threaded male connections to 1 1/4" BSP threaded female connections, allowing you to step down pipe sizes in your rural water system. Apply PTFE tape (plumber's tape) to the male threads before screwing into the female socket to create a watertight seal. Tighten firmly by hand, then use a spanner to secure without over-tightening, which can crack the fitting. Ensure the connection is leak-free before pressurizing your system. Tips: Always match your fitting size to your poly pipe's inner diameter — this fitting suits 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" nominal rural poly pipe. Test all new connections at low pressure first to verify seals before running your system at full operating pressure (800kPa maximum for rural poly pipe). Keep spare PTFE tape and stainless steel clamps on hand for maintenance, as threaded fittings may need re-sealing if they develop slow leaks.
