Slide the clip over the post and wire, positioning it so the wire sits firmly in the clip's groove. Push the clip down onto the post until it's snug and won't shift under tension. For Waratah posts, make sure you're using the back of post position as intended — the clip grips better when seated properly against the post's ridges. Space clips roughly 1 metre apart on strainer posts and 1.5 to 2 metres apart on intermediate posts for adequate wire support. Tips: Don't over-tighten the clip thinking it'll hold better — the wire needs to move slightly under load to prevent post damage. Check your clips after the first heavy rain or wind event; they can shift slightly as the fence settles, so you might need to tap a few back into position. Keep a few spare clips handy when you're out checking fence; they're cheap insurance and you'll find yourself replacing the odd one that's worked loose.
