Thread your wire or tape through the strain insulator slot, then pull it taut and secure the other end to your next post or terminal. The strain version is designed to handle the main load-bearing runs, so don't use it for intermediate fence lines where a pinlock would do the job better. Tips: Check your insulators every few months, especially after heavy wind or stock pressure, because even a small crack or movement will start bleeding voltage into the ground and weaken your fence. Keep the metal plate and bolts clean and free of dirt buildup, as this can create an earth path that defeats the whole purpose of having a good insulator.
