Thunderbird Green Earth Lead EF-171 is a replacement green earth lead for Thunderbird electric fence energisers.

It is an insulated clip with a ring end for energiser terminals.

Run the lead cable from your energiser to the fence line, either above ground along a fence post or buried underground to keep it out of sight and protected from stock. If burying it, dig a trench at least 300mm deep and lay the cable straight to avoid kinks that can damage the insulation. Connect one end to the energiser terminal and the other end to your fence wire using the Thunderbird clip, making sure the connection is tight and free of dirt or corrosion. Tips: Keep the lead cable away from metal gates and troughs—run it through PVC conduit where it crosses these points to prevent energy loss and short circuits. Check your connections every few weeks, especially after heavy rain, as moisture and corrosion at the clip will drop your fence voltage and leave stock able to push through.
