Genfarm Fluroxypyr 400 EC Herbicide controls broadleaf weeds in fallow, lucerne, maize, millets, pastures, poppies, sorghum, sugar cane, sweet corn and winter cereals, and woody weeds in agricultural non-crop areas, commercial/industrial areas, forests, pastures and rights-of-way. Woody weeds - high volume: dilute in water and spray actively growing plants to the point of run-off (rates vary by species, e.g. lantana 250-500 mL/100 L, wattles 250-500 mL/100 L). Basal bark and cut stump: dilute in diesel. Winter cereals: apply from 3-leaf to flag (Zadoks 13-39) at 250 mL-1.5 L/ha depending on weed and mixing partner. Add Uptake Spraying Oil or a non-ionic wetter where specified. Withholding period: DO NOT graze failed crops or treated pastures, or cut for stock food, for 7 days after application. Poppies: do not spray later than 10 weeks before harvest. Other crops: not required when used as directed. Always read the full registered label before use and confirm rates and withholding periods for your situation.

Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. The registered label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.

Apply to actively growing weeds for best results. For woody weeds, delay treatment of regrowth until it has at least 1 m of new, vigorous growth. Add Uptake Spraying Oil or a non-ionic surfactant where the label specifies. DO NOT apply to stressed plants, if rain is likely within one hour, or where spray may drift onto susceptible crops (e.g. cotton, grapes, legumes, vegetables).

Common Questions

What is Genfarm Fluroxypyr 400 EC Herbicide and what does it control?

Genfarm Fluroxypyr 400 EC is a Group I (pyridine) broadleaf herbicide containing 400 g/L fluroxypyr (as the methylheptyl ester). It controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds in fallow, lucerne, maize, millets, pastures, poppies, sorghum, sugar cane, sweet corn and winter cereals, as well as woody weeds in agricultural non-crop areas, commercial and industrial areas, forests, pastures and rights-of-way. Refer to the registered label for the full list of target weeds.

How does it compare to Starane Advanced?

Both products are based on the same active ingredient, fluroxypyr. Genfarm Fluroxypyr 400 EC is a more concentrated formulation (400 g/L) and is often chosen as a cost-effective alternative. Because concentrations differ, always follow the Genfarm label rates rather than substituting rates from another product.

Can I use it on pastures and grass crops?

Yes. It is registered for use in established grass pastures and winter cereals and generally does not harm grasses, though transitory damage can occur on stoloniferous species such as couch and kikuyu. Always check the label for rates, states and withholding periods that apply to your situation.

What application methods can I use?

It can be applied as a boom spray in crops, pastures and fallow, and for woody weeds as a high-volume foliar spray (handgun/knapsack), low-volume high-concentrate (drench or gas-powered gun), or basal bark and cut stump treatment mixed with diesel. Add Uptake Spraying Oil or a non-ionic surfactant where the label specifies.

Is there a withholding period and what is the poison schedule?

Withholding period: DO NOT graze failed crops or treated pastures, or cut for stock food, for 7 days after application (poppies: do not spray later than 10 weeks before harvest; other crops: not required when used as directed). It is a Schedule 5 (S5) poison and a Dangerous Good. Always read the label and Safety Data Sheet before use, or contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692.

Where can I find the label and SDS?

The registered product label and Safety Data Sheet are available on this product page and from TGRM. APVMA approval number 81650. For advice, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or visit 55 Tozer St, Gympie.
