Norma Gate Valve Brass 50mm

This is a threaded brass gate valve with a female BSP port at each end — it is not a barbed or poly compression fitting, so do not push pipe onto it. To install, wrap the male thread of the adjoining pipe or fitting with PTFE thread tape, screw it into the valve port and tighten with a spanner on the valve's hex body (never on the handle) until firm — do not overtighten. Fit the inlet and outlet the same way and keep the valve accessible for operation. Turn the handle fully anticlockwise to open and fully clockwise to close; always run it fully open or fully closed, as partial positions restrict flow and can wear the wedge. Pressure-test the joints before leaving the system unattended. Rated to 1600 kPa; suitable for hot or cold water and diesel. Tips: Support the pipework on both sides of the valve so its weight is not carried on the threads. The non-lifting handle can be replaced while the valve stays in service. Install brass gate valves at key isolation points so you can shut down a section for maintenance without draining the whole system. To join to poly pipe, screw a suitable threaded poly adaptor into the valve rather than forcing pipe onto the body.
