Mount the hinge to your 400mm post using the bolts provided, ensuring it's level before tightening fully. Attach the gate frame to the hinge, then fit the drop latch to the opposite post so it catches cleanly when the gate swings closed. Test the gate swing a few times and adjust the hinge position if it's binding or sagging. Tips: Use a spirit level when installing the hinge—a wonky gate will bind and the latch won't drop properly, which is frustrating when you're moving stock in a hurry.
