This no frills galvanised hook latches offer an easy no frills way to keep your gate shut.

Chain length 500mm

Bolt the hook latch mounting plate to your gate frame at an appropriate operating height. Install the catch staples into the gate post using the provided hardware, positioning the staple so the hook drops into it cleanly when the gate swings closed. Thread the 500mm chain between the latch and post to limit the gate's open swing angle. Test the closure action several times before using with stock. Tips: Install the staple catch slightly forward of where the latch naturally rests so the hook passes the staple before dropping in — this ensures the gate latches reliably. Position the chain to limit the gate to approximately 90 degrees open, which is enough for stock movement but prevents the gate swinging back and damaging itself or the post. Check all hardware tightness after the first week as gate vibration can loosen new installations.
