Bolt the EFG gudgeon to the bottom of your gate post using the provided bolt-on plate — no welding required. Position the gudgeon cup at the correct height so the gate pin rests in it comfortably with the gate hanging at ground clearance height. Ensure the bolt-on plate is firmly secured to the post with all bolts tight before hanging the gate. Apply grease to the gudgeon cup before inserting the gate pin. Tips: The EFG is the bottom hinge — it takes the weight of the gate, so correct installation height and firm bolting are critical. Position it before drilling bolt holes by temporarily resting the gate in place and marking the correct gudgeon height. Check all bolts after the first week as gate weight and movement can settle the fitting.
