Looking for a simple chain latch to attach to your gate

These chain latch kits bolt onto your gate and can loop around a post or another gate.

Its perfect if you have a two, three or four gates meeting at a corner.

By having your latch attached to your gate, you can swing the gate open and then latch it onto your fence.

This means it won’t close at the most inconvenient of times.

Chain length 500mm

Bolt the hook latch to your gate frame at a comfortable operating height, typically 1.2-1.4m from the ground. Position the catch plate on the post so the latch hook drops into it cleanly when the gate closes. Thread the 500mm chain between the latch and the post to limit the gate's open swing to a manageable angle. Test the closure several times before relying on it with stock. Tips: Set the catch plate slightly forward of where you think it should go — the latch needs to swing past the catch before dropping in, so the gate needs to close firmly against the latch stop. Keep the hook and catch clean of mud and scale; even a small piece of debris can prevent the latch engaging and leave your gate unsecured. Replace hardware when you see significant wear on the hook or catch plate — worn gate latches don't close reliably.
