Slide the drop bolt onto the gate frame where it needs to sit, ensuring the bolt aligns with the keeper on the post. Mark your holes, drill them out, and bolt it securely to the gate frame using the appropriate fasteners — don't skimp on tightness here or you'll have a drooping gate in a few months. Once installed, test the drop action a few times to make sure the bolt drops cleanly and engages fully into the keeper. Tips: Keep the bolt and keeper clean and free of mud and debris, especially in wet season, so it drops smoothly without sticking.
