Slide the post cap over the top of your 40NB round post until it sits flush and square on the post end. Make sure the post is clean and free of rust or debris before fitting to ensure a proper seal. The cap will protect the post from water ingress and prevent rot or rust spreading down into the post, which extends the life of your fencing considerably. Tips: Check that your posts are truly vertical before capping them—a wonky post won't seat the cap properly and you'll get water pooling on the edges. If you're capping older galvanised posts that have surface corrosion, give them a quick wire brush or light sand before fitting the cap so it seals better. Keep a few spare caps on hand for when posts eventually need replacing or if one gets damaged during repairs.
