Fasinex 240 is an oral flukicide for the treatment and control of triclabendazole-sensitive strains of liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica) in cattle and sheep.

Fasinex 240 contains triclabendazole, an active belonging to the benzimidazole family of drenches which has efficacy against early immature, immature and mature stages of liver fluke.

Key Product Benefits:

Controls all stages of liver fluke (early immature, immature and adult)

Ready-to-use, free-flowing and low-volume oral dose

Suitable for both sheep and beef cattle

Can be used in dry dairy cattle (not less than 21 days before calving)

Why Choose Fasinex 240:

Fasinex 240 is an oral drench that treats and controls triclabendazole-sensitive liver fluke in sheep, beef and dry dairy cattle.
Fasinex 240 will treat and control both acute and chronic fascioliasis for strategic management of liver fluke.
It offers the flexibility and convenience of treating both sheep and cattle, in a low-volume oral dose.
Fasinex 240 is effective against triclabendazole-susceptible liver fluke, but resistance may develop to any drench.
Consult your veterinarian for detailed advice on a parasite control program.

Target Species and Pests

For the treatment of triclabendazole-susceptible Early Immature, Immature and Mature liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica) in cattle and sheep.

FASINEX 240 when used at the recommended rate of 12mg triclabendazole/kg bodyweight for cattle (i.e. 2.5ml/50kg BW) and a minimum dose of 10mg triclabendazole/kg bodyweight for sheep, is highly effective against susceptible early immature fluke as well as immature and adult fluke.

Note: Resistance may develop to any drench. It is advisable that a drench resistance test be conducted before any drench is used.

Dose rate & administration

Administer orally. Cattle: 2.5 mL per 50 kg (12 mg triclabendazole/kg). Sheep: 0.5 mL per 10 kg. Effective against early immature, immature and adult stages of liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica). Shake well before use. Do not use in lactating cows or within 21 days of calving.

Tips for Best Results

  • Weigh animals accurately using scales — never estimate liveweight. Underdosing is one of the leading contributors to drench resistance in liver fluke populations.
  • Triclabendazole is currently the only registered flukicide effective against all three stages of liver fluke in Australia, making it a critical tool — use it strategically and only when fluke burden is confirmed to preserve its efficacy. Resistance to triclabendazole has been reported in some areas, so monitor treatment outcomes and discuss testing options with your vet.
  • Where possible, time treatments based on seasonal fluke risk and diagnostic results (faecal egg counts or liver inspection at slaughter) rather than treating routinely — this supports refugia principles by avoiding unnecessary treatment pressure on fluke populations.
  • Store below 30°C out of direct sunlight, and keep out of reach of children and animals. Shake well before use and keep the container tightly sealed between uses.
  • Keep accurate treatment records including date, mob, liveweights, dose administered, batch number, and withholding period — this is best practice and essential for QA programs such as LPA/NVD compliance.
