Where strainer posts goStrainer posts are the anchors that keep your fence tight and upright. Set one at every end, corner and gateway, and at any change of direction or slope — including the top of a rise and the bottom of a gully. On long straight runs, drop in an inline strainer roughly every 100 m, and closer where stock put extra pressure on the fence. A heavier pipe wall holds more strain and lets you space your anchors further apart.

Drive the 2.15 metre Waratah post into the ground at a corner or strain point, ensuring it's vertical and solid — you want at least 600mm of post in the ground for proper hold. Attach your wire to the Gripple joiner at the top, then tension using your preferred method (hand winch, quad, or tractor) until the wire's tight and your fence line is straight. Once tensioned, lock off the Gripple to hold the tension permanently. Tips: Don't skimp on depth — a shallow post won't hold tension properly, especially in sandy country or when you're pulling hard on corner strains. Check your post is truly vertical before tensioning; a wonky post will pull sideways and won't distribute load evenly. Keep spare Gripples on hand because once they're locked down, they don't come undone — you'll need a new one if you ever need to re-tension or adjust.
