Magnesium Sulphate (Epson Salts) is an excellent source of available magnesium which is often referred to as the powerhouse behind photosynthesis.
Magnesium is vital for plant growth and health as it serves to metabolize carbohydrates.
Its use is associated with a fast green-up of the plant because of its role in enabling photosynthesis, the resulting product of which is chlorophyll (the green).

Apply Lovelands Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) at the rate stated on the bag, guided by a soil or leaf test rather than by eye - magnesium sits in balance with calcium and potassium, and over-applying one can lock out the others.
The heptahydrate powder is highly soluble, so it suits three methods: dissolved and run through a fertigation system, dissolved and applied as a foliar spray for a fast correction, or spread and watered in for a longer-term soil correction.
For fertigation and foliar work, part-fill the tank with clean water, add the product with the agitator running until fully dissolved, then top up to volume. Do not let undissolved powder sit in the bottom of a tank or line.
Apply during active growth, when the plant can actually take the magnesium up and use it. Follow with adequate soil moisture where the product is being spread rather than watered in.
Store sealed, dry and off the ground. The product draws moisture readily and will cake if left open on a damp floor.
Tips: Foliar application gives the fastest visible green-up but only corrects the plant, not the soil - use it to rescue a deficiency in-season and a soil application to fix the underlying shortage. Confirm tank-mix compatibility before combining with other products. In south-east Queensland, magnesium leaches readily from lighter coastal sands, so those blocks often need a smaller, more frequent program rather than one heavy application.
