Mount the energiser in a dry location near your fence line, away from long grass and vegetation that can cause leakage. This is a high-output unit, so install a proper multi-stake earth system: a minimum of three earth stakes spaced about 4 m apart, driven at least 1-2 m into moist soil, connected together with heavy galvanised earth wire and then to the earth terminal. A single stake is not adequate earthing for a unit this size. Connect the fence terminal to your fence wire. Switch between mains and battery mode depending on your setup — mains gives continuous power for permanent fences; battery suits portable or remote paddocks. Use a fence voltage tester (never your hand) to confirm adequate voltage along the fence before turning stock in. Tips: Clear vegetation from your fence line regularly. Check earth stake connections after dry spells — hard, dry soil raises earth resistance, so water around stakes if needed. Mains power is more reliable than battery for permanent installations. Follow the Thunderbird manual for full installation and safety guidance.

Common Questions
