Yes, the MB-1060R is mains or battery powered. A 12 volt lead and A.C. adaptor are supplied with the unit.
What does the remote control do?
The Remote Ready feature lets you turn the energiser on or off from the fence line. Note that remote control is optional and not included as standard.

What happens if my battery runs low?
The energiser has an auto battery save function. When battery voltage drops, the system automatically changes the output level to low and adjusts the pulse rate to maximum, so it keeps working longer.
