Install the gate handle on your existing electric fence line by attaching the spring mechanism to both fence posts or using the bungy cord setup if you prefer. Thread the live wire through the insulated handle grip and secure it firmly to ensure good electrical contact when the gate is closed. Test the connection with your energiser before turning livestock through to make sure the circuit breaks cleanly when the gate swings open. Tips: Keep the spring tension adjusted so the gate closes firmly on its own but doesn't require excessive force to open - you'll thank yourself when you're running stock through in hot weather or poor light. Check the electrical contact point regularly because dirt and corrosion will kill your fence security faster than a loose wire, so wipe it down every few weeks if you're in damp country.
