Earthlife Lawn Blend is a complete lawn fertiliser and mineral soil conditioner designed to improve both the grass and the soil beneath it. Rather than relying on a high dose of nitrogen for a quick green-up, it provides a broad range of minerals, trace elements and beneficial soil microorganisms intended to support stronger roots, thicker growth, improved soil structure and greater lawn resilience. EEarthlife Soil Balance+1

What it contains

Earthlife lists a typical analysis of:

• Nitrogen (N): 4.0%
• Phosphate (P): 3.0%
• Potassium (K): 2.5%
• Calcium: 11.3%
• Magnesium: 2.0%
• Plant-available silica: 18.5%
• Sulphate: 5.5%
• Iron: 1.8%
• Plus around 60 other minerals/trace nutrients

What Lawn Blend is designed to do

1. Feed the lawn

The NPK provides a relatively moderate nutritional feed. The 4% nitrogen content is deliberately much lower than many conventional high-nitrogen lawn fertilisers. 2. Improve soil structure

3. Encourage stronger roots

The mineral and nutrient combination is intended to encourage a deeper and more robust root system. Better-developed roots allow the grass to access water and nutrients more effectively and can improve resilience during heat, drought and heavy use. EEarthlife Soil Balance

4. Produce thicker, softer grass

Rather than pushing predominantly upright growth with excessive nitrogen, Lawn Blend is marketed as encouraging lateral/runner growth. This can increase the number of leaf blades and help produce a denser, softer lawn. EEarthlife Soil Balance

5. Improve wear resistance

The calcium, silica and broader mineral profile are intended to support stronger plant tissue. Earthlife specifically markets Lawn Blend for lawns exposed to heavy foot traffic, with stronger growth and improved recovery from wear. EEarthlife Soil Balance

6. Support soil biology

Suitable for all lawn types

Earthlife states that Lawn Blend is suitable for all turf varieties, including established lawns and newly laid turf. Its FAQ specifically confirms that it can be used on Sir Walter, and says it contains no urea, manure or blood-and-bone that could potentially burn the lawn. EEarthlife Soil Balance

Application rates

For problem areas, Earthlife also suggests aerating and applying Garden Mate first at a minimum of 300 g/m². EEarthlife Soil Balance

For a normal established lawn, 100 g/m² is therefore the standard starting rate. For example:

• 50 m² lawn ? 5 kg
• 100 m² lawn ? 10 kg
• 150 m² lawn ? 15 kg
• 200 m² lawn ? 20 kg

How often should it be applied?

Earthlife's current product page recommends at least three applications per year, with additional applications if necessary. New turf

For new lawns, Earthlife recommends using Garden Mate before laying the turf, followed by Lawn Blend on top:

1. Apply Garden Mate at 300–500 g/m² before laying the turf.
2. Lay the new turf.
3. Apply Lawn Blend at 100 g/m² over the turf.

The aim is to encourage the new turf to establish deeper roots, reduce establishment stress and improve its ability to tolerate foot traffic and adverse conditions.

For existing lawns

On an established lawn, Lawn Blend functions as both a fertiliser and soil conditioner. At the recommended minimum of 100 g/m², it supplies nutrients and minerals while aiming to encourage lateral growth, improve root development and maintain soil health.
