Slide the earth clamp onto your galvanised earth stake so it sits firmly against the stake body. Connect your earth wire to the clamp terminal — make sure it's tight enough that it won't slip under load or vibration. Drive the stake into moist soil to at least 1 metre depth, ideally deeper if you can manage it. The clamp needs good metal-to-metal contact between wire and stake, so don't use it on rusty or damaged stakes. Tips: Drive your earth stakes into the dampest part of your property — low-lying areas near water sources or heavy clay will give you far better conductivity than sandy ridge tops. If you're setting up a system during dry months, soak the soil around your stakes a day or two before driving them in, as moisture makes a real difference to how well your system works. Check your clamp connections every few months, especially after heavy rain or wind — vibration can loosen them over time and you'll lose your earth path when you need it most.
