Precast concrete keeps water cool, reducing the risk of bacteria

Position the concrete water trough in a central location within your paddock to ensure all livestock can access water without travelling excessive distances. For supplement feeding, fill the trough with your chosen product and allow animals to self-feed, monitoring consumption rates daily. Ensure the trough is placed on level ground to prevent spillage and maintain stability. Check water levels regularly, especially during hot weather or high-use periods, and refill as needed to maintain adequate supply for your herd. Tips: Place the trough in a shaded area or provide shelter to minimise algae growth and product spoilage caused by sun exposure and heat. Position away from trees and high traffic areas to reduce contamination from fallen leaves and excessive mud around the feeder. Regularly inspect the concrete for cracks or damage and maintain proper drainage in the surrounding area to prevent waterlogging. Common Questions

What size is this water trough?

It's a 4 foot diameter circular trough with a capacity of 470 litres.

Does it come with a float valve?

No, the float is not included. Cocky brand float valves are recommended for this trough. You'll need to source and install one separately.

What are the inlet and outlet sizes?

It has a 1.5" brass inlet and a 3.5" brass outlet. The outlet comes as a standard brass fitting included with the trough.

Why is concrete used for the trough?

The thick concrete walls keep the water cool, which reduces the risk of bacteria. The precast concrete also makes it a strong, durable trough with lifting points for moving it around.
