Active constituents
4 mg/mL selenium (as sodium selenate)
2 mg/mL hydroxocobalamin (as hydroxocobalamin acetate vitamin B12)
Dosage and administration
Give dose by subcutaneous injection only.
Lambs 0.5 mL at marking or weaning
Sheep 1 - 1.5 mL pre-lambing
Calves 2 - 3 mL from 2 months of age
Cows 4 - 6 mL pre-calving
The frequency of dosing should be related to the severity of the deficiencies. For instance, for sheep or cattle in extremely deficient areas, repeat dose every 2 - 3 months. In severely selenium deficient areas, use a calculated dose of 0.1 mg Se/kg body weight. In less deficient areas, repeat dose every 5 - 6 months or as found necessary. Consult your animal health adviser for advice specific to your flock or herd.
Contraindications
- This product is contraindicated for use when selenium intake from pasture is high or selenium is provided by other means (such as top dressing, vaccine, pellets or selenium drenches) if blood selenium levels at treatment are high. Users can determine selenium status by consulting their veterinarian.
- This product should not be administered to sheep with known liver damage concurrently grazing plants which contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids, such as Paterson's Curse or heliotrope.
- This product is contraindicated for use in animals that are dehydrated or unwell.
- This product is contraindicated for use unless mineral deficiency is confirmed.
