Laucke Mills Chick Starter is a complete, nutritionally balanced starter feed specifically formulated for day-old layer chicks through to approximately 6 weeks of age. It is designed to provide the high-quality protein, energy, vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids that young chicks require during their critical early growth period.

Ingredients

Laucke Chick Starter is formulated from a selection of grains, pulses, protein sources, fats, minerals, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes and other nutritional ingredients. These include wheat, triticale, barley, oats, peas, lupins, lentils, beans, soyabean, canola and sunflower products, along with meatmeal, fish meal, blood meal and fat.

It also contains limestone and dicalcium phosphate as mineral sources, together with supplemental amino acids such as lysine and methionine. The vitamin package includes A, D3, E, K and the B-group vitamins, as well as choline. Minerals include calcium, phosphorus, sodium, chloride, cobalt, copper, iodine, iron, manganese, molybdenum, selenium and zinc.

Feeding Instructions

Feed Laucke Chick Starter crumble ad libitum, meaning chicks should have free access to the feed, from day-old until approximately 6 weeks of age.

From around 6 weeks, Laucke recommends changing to Pullet Grower MP or Red Hen Pullet until point of lay. At approximately 18 weeks, birds can transition to an appropriate layer ration. Clean, fresh drinking water should be available at all times.

Coccidiosis Protection

One of the important features of Laucke Chick Starter is that it contains lasalocid sodium, a coccidiostat included for the prevention of coccidiosis. Coccidiosis is an intestinal disease caused by Eimeria parasites and can be particularly damaging to young poultry.

Because this is a medicated feed, it is important to follow the manufacturer's label restrictions.

Important Warnings

Do not feed this product to:

• Hens producing fertile eggs
• Game birds other than turkeys
• Horses, ponies, donkeys or other equids — lasalocid can be fatal to equids
• Cattle, sheep, goats, deer or other ruminants, as the product contains restricted animal material.

There is also an egg withholding period of 14 days according to the current Laucke product information. The manufacturer's current page lists a 1-day meat withholding period for pullets and broilers; some retailers display older label information, so the current bag label should be followed.
