CHAINWIRE 1800 X 50 X 2.5 S/GAL X 20M ROLL KK 100525 at a glance

Galvanised Chainwire (also known as chain wire fencing or chain wire mesh) is cost effective, durable and versatile.

It’s commonly used in security fencing, sports ground fences, garden fencing, rural fencing and often temporary fencing.

What is it made from:

Heavy duty steel wire

Wire is galvanised for durability and is long-lasting

How does it work:

The mesh size of the galvanised chainwire is usually 50 diamond or 60 diamond – this is the distance between the wire that forms the parallel sides of the diamond.

The height of a chainwire roll is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the top knuckle (referred to as knuckle knuckle, abbreviated as KK).

For barb top (abbreviated to BT), the height is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the first twist of a barb top.

Unroll the chainwire along your fencing line and secure the bottom edge to your posts with galvanised staples or wire ties, working from one end to the other to keep tension even. Pull the wire taut as you go and secure the top edge once you're satisfied with the height and alignment. For livestock containment, bury the bottom 150-200mm in the ground or bend it outward along the base to prevent animals pushing underneath. Tips: Check your post spacing before you buy—this roll works best with posts no more than 1.8 to 2 metres apart to keep the wire from sagging between supports. Galvanised fencing won't last long if you're mixing it with untreated timber or steel posts, so make sure your post material is compatible. Tension the wire properly from the start; loose chainwire will sag quickly and give stock the chance to test it.
