CHAINWIRE 1800 X 50 X 2.5 S/GAL X 15MTRS KNUCKLE 200-2066 at a glance

Galvanised Chainwire (also known as chain wire fencing or chain wire mesh) is cost effective, durable and versatile.

Its commonly used in security fencing, sports ground fences, garden fencing, rural fencing and often temporary fencing.

What is it made from:

Heavy duty steel wire

Wire is galvanised for durability and is long-lasting

How does it work:

The mesh size of the galvanised chainwire is usually 50 diamond or 60 diamond - this is the distance between the wire that forms the parallel sides of the diamond.

The height of a chainwire roll is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the top knuckle (referred to as knuckle knuckle, abbreviated as KK).

For barb top (abbreviated to BT), the height is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the first twist of a barb top.

Unroll the chainwire along your fence line and secure to posts using the knuckle connectors every 1.2 to 1.5 metres. Pull the wire tight as you go to prevent sagging, then twist the knuckle fittings firmly to lock each section in place. Once installed, check all connections after the first week as the wire may settle slightly. Tips: Buy a bit extra wire for repairs and splices — you'll always need it eventually. Don't over-tension the wire when installing in hot weather, as it'll contract when temperatures drop and can snap if it's too tight. Keep the knuckle connectors clean and dry before fitting, as any dirt or rust in the joint can prevent a proper lock.

Common Questions

What is chainwire used for?

Galvanised chainwire is cost effective, durable and versatile. It's commonly used for security fencing, sports ground fences, garden fencing, rural fencing and temporary fencing.

What makes this chainwire durable?

It's made from heavy duty steel wire that is galvanised, which makes it durable and long-lasting.

What does the mesh size mean?

The mesh size is measured in diamonds — for example, 50 diamond or 60 diamond refers to the distance between the wires that form the parallel sides of each diamond in the mesh.

How is the height of this roll measured?

For this knuckle knuckle (KK) style, the height is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the top knuckle. If the roll were barb top (BT) instead, the height would be measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the first twist of the barb top.
