CHAINWIRE 900 X 50 X 2.5 S/GAL X 15M ROLL KK 200-2028 at a glance

Galvanised Chainwire (also known as chain wire fencing or chain wire mesh) is cost effective, durable and versatile.

It’s commonly used in security fencing, sports ground fences, garden fencing, rural fencing and often temporary fencing.

What is it made from:

Heavy duty steel wire

Wire is galvanised for durability and is long-lasting

How does it work:

The mesh size of the galvanised chainwire is usually 50 diamond or 60 diamond – this is the distance between the wire that forms the parallel sides of the diamond.

The height of a chainwire roll is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the top knuckle (referred to as knuckle knuckle, abbreviated as KK).

For barb top (abbreviated to BT), the height is measured from the bottom selvedge knuckle diamond to the first twist of a barb top.

Unroll the chainwire along your fence line and secure to your posts using tie wire or fencing clips, working from one end to the other to keep tension even. Pull the wire taut as you go and fasten every 300-400mm up the post to prevent sagging. For a secure installation, use a come-along or ratchet strap to tension the wire before final fastening, then trim any excess at the ends. Tips: Install your posts no more than 1.8 to 2 metres apart when using this 900mm height—wider spacing will cause the fence to belly out and lose integrity. Always tension chainwire on a cool morning; if you do it on a hot day, the wire will sag as temperatures drop. Check your work after heavy rain or wind, as soil movement and livestock pressure can loosen clips that weren't driven home properly.
