CATTLE CABLE GALVANIZED 8.25MM X 400M at a glance

Cattle Cable 8.25mm x 400m Roll is used extensively in the rural sector for general fencing and saleyard applications.

Made from seven strands of galvanised wire, cattle cable is used for any rural style yard enclosure, used in conjunction with wire restrainers, fencing turnbuckles and Helicoil “dead end” grips.

String the cable along your fence line, securing it to posts with cable clips or strainers spaced every 1-1.5 metres. Tension the cable firmly using a come-along or fence strainer to keep it taut and prevent sagging, which cattle will exploit. Ensure the cable is at least 1.2 metres high for cattle to discourage them from testing or jumping the fence. Tips: Don't over-tension galvanized cable or you'll risk snapping it—aim for firm and straight, not drum-tight. Keep the cable clean of mud and debris during wet seasons, as this helps it maintain visibility and reduces corrosion underneath buildup. Always check tension after the first heavy rain and again seasonally, as cable stretches slightly when new.
