Speedy Feeders are three-speed feeders made by Shoof. With Speedy Feeder when you get a real fast drinker, switch to ‘Fast’ and let him go for it. When you have a weak premature-born calf, needing careful feeding, switch to ‘Stop’ or ‘Slow’ and let him take milk as he can cope without drowning. The three speeds control the air inflow to the bottle, and thus the milk outflow. Reduce time wasted on speedsters and prevent drowning weaklings, all using the same bottle and teat. These feeders also feature intelligently designed bottle with multi-directional easy-grip hand hold. The teat is mounted low in the cap to empty the bottle contents completely. The wide 70mm-diameter neck ensures easier filling and cleaning, and the coarse-thread cap is quick and easy to fit. The wide base gives the bottle maximum stability when standing. Spare teats are supplied as fitted teat/cap assemblies, or as bare teat. (Teat replacement needs some strength to achieve.) Available in 2.5 or 4L sizes.

The Shoof Speedy Feeder with Big Softy teat is a purpose-built calf feeding bottle designed to handle the full range of calves on your property — from strong, fast-drinking calves that bolt their milk, right through to weak or premature-born calves that need slow, careful feeding. The three-speed dial controls air inflow to the bottle, which in turn regulates the flow of milk through the teat, giving you precise control over every feed. At 2.5 litres, this bottle is a practical size for younger or smaller calves and is equally at home on a dairy operation or a beef property rearing poddy calves.
Fill the bottle through the wide 70mm neck with your prepared milk or milk replacer, then fit the cap and teat assembly using the coarse-thread cap — it threads on quickly and securely. Before feeding, set the three-speed dial to the appropriate flow rate: use 'Fast' for strong, vigorous drinkers; 'Slow' for calves that need time to manage their intake; and 'Stop' to pause feeding without removing the bottle. Hold the bottle using the multi-directional easy-grip handhold, and present the low-mounted teat to the calf at a comfortable angle — the teat position ensures the bottle empties fully with no milk left behind.
After each feed, rinse the bottle, cap, and teat thoroughly with warm water immediately to prevent milk residue drying inside. Disassemble the cap and teat assembly for a proper clean. Wash all components with a suitable milk equipment sanitiser, rinse well, and allow to air dry before storing. The wide neck makes scrubbing the inside of the bottle straightforward. Replace the teat when it shows signs of wear or cracking — spare teats are available as complete teat and cap assemblies, or as bare teats. Note that fitting a bare teat to the cap does require a reasonable amount of hand strength.
Stand the bottle on its wide base between feeds to keep it stable and reduce the risk of tipping.
Tips for Best Results
- Match the speed setting to your calf — switch to 'Fast' for strong drinkers to save time, and 'Slow' or 'Stop' for weak or premature calves to prevent milk going down the wrong way.
- Rinse the bottle, cap, and teat with warm water straight after every feed — dried milk residue is much harder to remove and can harbour bacteria that affect calf health.
- Use a bottle brush through the wide 70mm neck to scrub the inside of the bottle thoroughly during your regular cleaning routine.
- Check the teat regularly for signs of cracking, stretching, or deterioration and replace it promptly — a damaged teat can affect flow and hygiene.
- Store the clean, dry bottle assembled with the cap on to keep the teat and interior free from dust and insects between feeds.
- Keep a spare teat and cap assembly on hand so you're not caught short if a teat needs replacing at a busy time.
