Slide the strain insulator onto your post — it's designed for timber or steel posts and grips firmly without needing screws. Thread your electric fence wire or tape through the insulator's slot, making sure it's seated properly so the conductor sits flush against the insulating material. Tension your wire to the next post and repeat. Check that the insulator isn't cracked or damaged before use, as any contact between wire and post will bleed your voltage straight to earth. Tips: Don't over-tighten wire through strain insulators — you only need enough tension to keep the fence line straight and level, not to bend the insulator itself.
