Target Weeds
Broadstrike (800 g/kg flumetsulam) controls a range of annual broadleaf weeds in winter cereals, pulses and legume pastures. Key species on the label include: wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum), charlock, wild turnip and turnip weed, Indian hedge mustard and other mustards, volunteer canola, shepherd's purse, ball mustard, three-horned bedstraw, amsinckia, Paterson's curse, capeweed and doublegee. Broadstrike is highly selective to medics, lucerne, clover and most forage legumes and to annual and perennial grasses. Note: this product does not control grass weeds – refer to the registered label for the full weed list by crop and growth stage.
Broadstrike Herbicide is a water dispersible granule containing 800 g/kg flumetsulam, a Group 2 (ALS-inhibiting) herbicide for the early post-emergence and salvage control of certain broadleaf weeds in winter cereals, and for post-emergence broadleaf weed control in chickpeas, field peas, lentils, maize, peanuts, soybeans, and legume pastures (clover, lucerne, medics, serradella, vetch and others). It is absorbed through leaves and roots and translocated to the growing points. Always read the registered product label and Safety Data Sheet before use.
Add the required amount of granules to a partially filled spray tank with agitation running, then top up with water. Label rates are in the range of 15–50 g/ha depending on crop and weed growth stage, and an adjuvant is normally required (e.g. Uptake spraying oil at 500 mL/100 L or a non-ionic wetter such as BS-1000 at 200 mL/100 L, as specified on the label for the crop). Apply as a boom spray with good coverage of the weeds.
Apply to small, actively growing weeds at the growth stages specified on the label. Avoid application during periods of stress such as drought, waterlogging, frost or extreme heat, as uptake and efficacy will be reduced.
Observe the label withholding periods (winter cereals: 4 weeks harvest and grazing; maize: 14 days grazing; pastures: 7 days; legume seed crops: 3 days) and the plant-back intervals, which vary by region and rainfall – sensitive crops such as canola and cotton may require up to 24 months in some regions. Refer to the registered label for crop-specific rates, weed lists and plant-back tables.

Tips for Best Results
- Spray at the right growth stage: Apply to small, actively growing broadleaf weeds at the crop and weed growth stages listed on the label – larger, stressed or frosted weeds will give poor results.
- Use the label adjuvant: Broadstrike normally requires Uptake spraying oil or a non-ionic wetter at the label rate for reliable uptake, particularly under warm, dry conditions where leaf surfaces are waxy.
- Resistance management: Flumetsulam is a Group 2 (ALS inhibitor) herbicide. Rotate with herbicides from different mode-of-action groups and avoid repeated Group 2 applications on the same paddock, as Group 2 resistance in wild radish and other broadleaf weeds is present in Australia.
- Check plant-back periods: Flumetsulam has residual activity. Observe the label plant-back intervals for following crops (e.g. canola and cotton), which depend on soil type, rainfall and region.
- Storage and safety: Store in a cool, dry, locked location away from children, livestock feed, and water sources. Wear appropriate PPE including gloves and eye protection when mixing and handling. Dispose of empty containers according to label instructions and local drumMUSTER guidelines.
