Target Weeds
Broad Sweep Herbicide Weed Force containing MCPA and dicamba provides control of a wide range of broadleaf (dicotyledonous) weeds in pastures, cereals, and non-crop areas. Key target species include thistles, capeweed, dock species, sorrel, bindweed, wild turnip, wild mustard, chickweed, clover (as a weed in cereal crops), and various other broadleaf annual and perennial weeds. It is selective against broadleaf weeds and generally well-tolerated by established grasses and cereals at recommended rates. Always check the product label to confirm the full weed spectrum and registration status for your intended use situation.
Broad Sweep Herbicide Weed Force is a selective post-emergent herbicide containing 340 g/L MCPA and 80 g/L dicamba (Group 4), used to control broadleaf weeds in winter cereals, grass pastures, turf (except buffalo grass) and non-crop areas. Label rates: cereals 1.0–1.7 L/ha depending on state and growth stage; grass pastures and turf 2.8–7 L/ha; knapsack 60–100 mL per 15 L of water. Apply as a foliar spray using a boom sprayer, knapsack, or other suitable ground equipment. Mix the required rate in water and apply to actively growing weeds. Always refer to the product label for specific application rates for your target weed and situation.
For best results, apply when weeds are small and actively growing. Both actives are absorbed through leaves and translocated throughout the plant, so thorough coverage is important. Apply in moderate temperatures and avoid application during the heat of the day when plants may be stressed and less likely to absorb the product effectively.
Do not spray if rain seems likely within 4 hours of application, as this will reduce efficacy by washing the product off leaf surfaces before adequate absorption occurs. Do not use in high wind, to minimise spray drift onto non-target plants, particularly broadleaf crops, ornamentals, and garden plants that are highly sensitive to MCPA and dicamba. Do not graze or cut for stock food for 7 days after application; harvest withholding period not required when used as directed.
Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. The registered label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.
Tips for Best Results
- Target young, actively growing weeds: MCPA and dicamba work best when weeds are small and actively growing. Treating at the seedling to early rosette stage gives significantly better control than treating large, mature, or stressed plants.
- Avoid spraying stressed plants: Drought-stressed, waterlogged, or frost-affected weeds will absorb the product poorly. Wait until plants have resumed active growth for reliable results.
- Protect sensitive crops and plants: MCPA and dicamba can cause severe damage to broadleaf crops (canola, cotton, legumes, vegetables, vines, and ornamentals) even at very low doses. Maintain buffer zones, use low-drift nozzles, and never spray in windy conditions near susceptible plants.
- Resistance management: Rotate herbicide modes of action where possible. MCPA and dicamba are both Group 4 (formerly Group I, synthetic auxin) herbicides. Avoid repeated use of the same mode of action on the same paddock season after season to reduce the risk of developing herbicide-resistant weed populations.
- Storage and safety: Store in a cool, dry, locked location away from children, livestock, foodstuffs, and water sources. Wear appropriate PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing when mixing and handling. Dispose of empty containers in accordance with label instructions and local council requirements.
Always read the label and follow directions for use. The registered label is the legal document governing use of this product.
