BARENBRUG LUCERNE SARDI 10 BARE (25) PER KG 30102011 at a glance

Sardi Ten is a big, upright, robust and competitive highly winter active lucerne with rapid regrowth, grazing tolerance and persistence not normally seen in highly winter active lucernes.

It stands above other lucernes with extraordinary vigour from establishment, through winter and beyond.

It suits under sown winter crops, a grass-free short-term pasture in cereal rotations and dryland pasture seed blends, especially in lower rainfall regions.

In dry-land mixed farming, Sardi Ten is particularly well suited to Mediterranean climates with winter dominant rainfall patterns.

As a winter active variety, Sardi Ten will maximise production during winter months that typically receive the majority of rainfall.

The quick regrowth of Sardi 10 is also valuable in farming systems with intensive management such as dairy farms and high yield hay & silage production.

Key Features:

Highly winter active lucerne with a maximum activity rating of 10

Suited to dryland systems with a winter dominant rainfall pattern

High yield suits intensive / irrigated fodder production

Exceptional seeding vigour

Quick regrowth after cutting and/or grazing

Broad base of pest and disease resistance with no weakness to any of the major lucerne diseases.

High winter growth and good grazing tolerance

Suited to cropping rotations, pasture mixes and hay production systems requiring maximum yield.

Sow Barenbrug SARDI 10 Bare (Uncoated) Lucerne at 5-8 kg/ha drilled to 5-10mm depth in spring (Aug-Oct) or late summer (Feb-Mar) when soil temperature exceeds 10°C and pH is above 5.4 (CaCl2). Inoculate with Group AL Rhizobium inoculant immediately before sowing — this step is critical for nitrogen fixation and must not be skipped. Tips: The bare/uncoated form has higher seed viability per kg vs coated seed since the coating adds weight without seed. Apply inoculant in the shade and sow within 24 hours. SARDI 10 is a high winter-activity variety suited to subtropical conditions.
