Sow Barenbrug Aurora Lucerne Uncoated at 5-8 kg/ha drilled to 5-10mm depth in spring (Aug-Oct) or late summer (Feb-Mar) when soil temperature exceeds 10°C and soil pH is above 5.4 (CaCl2). Inoculate seed with Group AL Rhizobium immediately before sowing as this inoculant is essential for nitrogen fixation in lucerne. Avoid sowing with vigorous companion grasses. Tips: Wait until 10% bloom before first grazing to build root reserves. Graze rotationally with 28-35 day recovery periods, never below 10cm. Pre-fill cattle on dry feed before access to lucerne to manage bloat risk. Aurora is a winter-active variety suitable for subtropical Queensland conditions.
