Load the rubber ring onto the applicator by stretching it over the four prongs. Insert the applicator's prong tips into the ring and press the handles together to expand the ring. Position the expanded ring around the scrotum above the testicles (for castration) or around the tail above the tip (for tail docking), then release the handles to close the ring around the target area. The ring should sit snugly without including any tissue you don't intend to remove. Tips: Always check the ring is correctly positioned before releasing — once applied, rings are difficult to remove. Work quickly and calmly to minimise stress on the animal. Use a new ring for each application — rings must not be reused. Administer an appropriate pain relief product before application as recommended by your vet; ring application causes significant discomfort.
