Target Weeds

Apparent Demolish DSMA 220 is registered for the control of grass weeds, with particular effectiveness against monocot (grassy) species. Key targets include nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus), couch grass (Cynodon dactylon), and other problematic annual and perennial grasses in registered use situations such as turf, cotton, and other label-specified crops. DSMA acts as a contact and translocated herbicide affecting grass species while having selectivity in certain broadleaf crops and turf scenarios. Always consult the registered product label for the full and current list of target species and approved use situations in your state or territory.

Apparent Demolish DSMA 220 is a post-emergent, foliar-applied herbicide used primarily for the selective control of grass weeds in certain crops and turf situations. It is taken up through the leaves and works best when applied to actively growing weeds. Mix the required amount of product in water and apply as a fine to medium spray using conventional boom or knapsack equipment, ensuring thorough coverage of target weed foliage. Always refer to the product label for specific rates, crop registrations, and timing requirements before use.

Apply when target weeds are actively growing and at the growth stage specified on the label. Avoid application during periods of plant stress caused by drought, waterlogging, extreme heat, or frost, as uptake and efficacy will be significantly reduced. Do not apply if rainfall is expected within 4–6 hours of treatment, as this may wash the product off the leaf surface before adequate absorption occurs.

DSMA is an organoarsenic compound and must be handled with appropriate care. This product carries a Schedule 6 (S6) poison classification — always wear the personal protective equipment specified on the label, including chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing. Do not allow spray to drift onto non-target plants, waterways, or areas where people or animals may be present. Observe all withholding periods and re-entry intervals as listed on the registered label.

Always read the current registered product label before use. Dose rates and withholding periods on this page are provided as a guide only. The registered label supplied with the product is the legal document and takes precedence. If in doubt, contact TGRM on (07) 5482 1692 or the manufacturer directly.

Tips for Best Results

  • Apply to actively growing weeds: DSMA works best when weeds are in vigorous vegetative growth. Avoid treating stressed, dormant, or drought-affected plants as uptake and control will be poor.
  • Check the weather before you spray: In Queensland's variable climate, always check the forecast. Avoid spraying if rain is expected within 4–6 hours, or during high winds that may cause drift. Hot, dry northerly winds can also cause rapid drying on the leaf before absorption is complete.
  • Use clean water and correct volumes: Use the water volume recommended on the label to ensure good canopy penetration and even coverage. Hard or turbid water can sometimes affect performance — use the cleanest water available.
  • Wear your PPE — every time: As an S6 scheduled chemical containing an organoarsenic active ingredient, strict PPE compliance is essential. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during use, and wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after handling.
  • Store safely and correctly: Store in a cool, dry, locked location away from children, livestock feed, and foodstuffs, in accordance with S6 storage requirements. Keep in original labelled container and do not store near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
