Where strainer posts goStrainer posts are the anchors that keep your fence tight and upright. Set one at every end, corner and gateway, and at any change of direction or slope — including the top of a rise and the bottom of a gully. On long straight runs, drop in an inline strainer roughly every 100 m, and closer where stock put extra pressure on the fence. Dig your post hole to a depth of at least 60cm and set the 3m Waratah post firmly in the ground. Attach your fence wire to the Gripple joiner mechanism at the top of the post, ensuring the wire runs straight and true along your fence line. Use the adjustment feature to tension the wire to the correct tightness—you should be able to pluck it like a guitar string with a clear note. Once tensioned, lock off the mechanism securely so it won't slip under load. Tips: Check your wire for kinks and damage before straining—any weak spots will fail at the Gripple point under tension. Don't over-tension on the first go; set it firm but fair, then come back and fine-tune after a few days when the wire settles. Keep the adjustment mechanism clear of dirt and rust so you can actually grip it when you need to adjust tension later.
