Grazon Extra (triclopyr 300 g/L + picloram 100 g/L) is most widely used for foliar application on lantana, rubber vine and regrowth. Tordon 75D (picloram 75 g/L + 2,4-D 300 g/L) suits basal bark and stem injection on larger plants. WHPs and waterway buffer distances differ — always read the current registered label.

Grazon Extra is the most widely used herbicide for lantana in Queensland, applied as a foliar spray to actively growing plants. For large stems, basal bark with Tordon or Garlon 600 in penetrant oil is effective year-round. Use a quality surfactant for foliar applications. Always read the current registered label.

Flupropanate products (Taskforce, Tussock Terminator, GP Flupro) are the gold standard — soil-active, long residual control. Apply in late winter to early spring. Allow 12 months before resowing. Flupropanate is not a Dangerous Good for road transport.

Buffel grass is notoriously difficult to kill selectively. Glyphosate is effective for knockdown but kills all vegetation. Haloxyfop (Verdict, Recon 520) is the most commonly used selective grass herbicide for buffel, but has a long withholding and grazing withholding period. Check the current registered label for rates before use.

Barber's pole worm (Haemonchus contortus) is the most significant sheep worm in Queensland. Resistance to single-class drenches is widespread. Combination products — Startect (derquantel + abamectin) or Zolvix Plus (monepantel + abamectin) — are recommended. Use FAMACHA scoring and leave refugia untreated. Confirm efficacy with a worm egg count reduction test.

SEQ pastures are typically deficient in phosphorus during the dry season and may be low in sulphur, copper and selenium.
