Description
Longrange vaccine is used to prevent botulism in cattle using a single annual dose.
Longrange Botulinum vaccine provides annual protection against Clostridium botulinum Types C and D toxins.
Recommendations For Use:
Longrange vaccine provides protection against both C. botulinum Type C and C. botulinum Type D in cattle.
Features:
Longrange replaces the need to use two initial doses of vaccine.
Longrange provides cattle producers with an effective, economical and safe vaccine, providing protection for their cattle while saving on expensive mustering costs and eliminating the expense of a second dose.
Trials in northern Australia have also shown that site reactions following vaccination with Longrange were minimal.
Longrange does not clog or block vaccinators, so the purchase of new or special vaccinators is not required.
Dose Rate:
Where the vaccine is dispensed in plastic packs, unused vaccine may be held over for use the next day, provided instructions for resealing are followed. See carton for resealing instructions.
The recommended dose for cattle of all ages is 2.5 ml.
The route of inoculation is subcutaneous (injected under the skin). Injection is high on the neck, behind the ear.
It is important that the vaccine is kept properly mixed before and during use.
A second priming dose is not required following the first priming vaccination.
A single dose of this vaccine should confer protection against Clostridium botulinum Types C and D toxins for up to 12 months.
An annual vaccination is recommended.
Immunity to Botulinum type C and D develops in 4 weeks (or 28 days) of administration of this vaccine and should confer protection for 12 months.
In outbreak situations, Zoetis has no studies to support the use of Longrange vaccine.
Storage Recommendations:
Store between 2°C and 8°C (Refrigerate. Do not freeze).
Protect from light
Withholding Period:
Zero (0) days
Side Effects:
Localised swelling may develop at the site of injection and a firm, nodular lump may persist for some weeks, even months.
